We are incredibly proud to announce that Primrose has officially earned her Grand Championship title 👏 and, in addition, has qualified for her Supreme Championship title!
Primrose achieved this incredible milestone in style, with three All Breeds Best in Show wins.
For those who may not know, to qualify for the Supreme Champion title, a dog must be awarded either 10 Best in Group awards or 3 Best in All Breeds Show awards. While earning 10 Best in Group awards is a remarkable achievement for any dog, achieving 3 Best in All Breeds Show wins is truly exceptional. In fact, Primrose is the first Australian Finnish Lapphund to earn the Supreme Championship title through 3 Best in All Breeds Show wins. What an extraordinary accomplishment!
It’s a simple fact that it is often more challenging for female dogs to become highly successful show competitors. Generally, females don’t have as much coat, head size, substance, or presence compared to males. And, much like in the human world, maternity leave can interrupt their show careers, limiting their opportunities for success. This makes Primrose’s achievements even more noteworthy and inspiring.
Currently, Primrose is proudly ⭐️ #1 DOLPS Finnish Lapphund Nationally ⭐️
❤ Owned and handled by Katrina Bailey and Jordan Long, Primrose has had a spectacular journey in the show ring. As one of two puppies in Akela’s special litter to the legendary Lecibsin Macce, both she and her sister Maeve stood out as exceptional from the start. With Maeve heading to Amber in Victoria, Katrina decided to take Primrose for a spin in the NSW show ring—and what a decision that was! From their very first weekends together, Primrose consistently awarded Best Baby in Show and Group wins, and they’ve never looked back!
I still remember when Primrose was about 10 months old. Katrina nervously asked if she could keep Primrose. I laughed and told her, “She’s already been yours for many, many months!”
Primrose is the granddaughter of our import and foundation bitch, Dual Ch (T) Dagolas Zeena (Imp Fin). Who herself was had an impressive show career, winning Junior World Winner at the World Dog Show in Budapest in 2013. Primrose' dam, Akela, Grand Ch Orical Kirsi of Jove (AI) WPDN, is a 5 times Best in Specialty Show winner, including under notable international breed specialist judges. Whilst Akela has dominated the Australian breed specialties, Primrose has well and truely dominated the all breeds shows.
Primrose has not only shone in the show ring but has also been an exceptional dam for Orical Kennels, producing five champions from her two litters. Her legacy continues to grow, with three Grand Champion grandchildren already carrying her torch forward.
Congratulations, Katrina and Jordan, on your incredible success with Primrose, and thank you for representing Orical Kennels so beautifully in the Australian show ring. We couldn’t be prouder of this amazing team and their history-making achievements.
Here is a video reflecting on Primrose's show career, enjoy!
