This past Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, Orical Kennels was represented at the Finnish Lapphund Club Victoria's (FLCV) Annual Breed Specialty Show at KCC Park.
It was a day filled with camaraderie and a celebration of the breed we hold so close to our hearts.
Team Orical came ready to shine, with four beautiful Lappies stepping into the ring, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments:
Orical Evening Star (Henry) – Handled by our wonderful friend Melissa Sparrow, Henry was awarded Puppy in Show, showcasing the promise of the next generation of Orical Lappies.
Orical Winter Brook (Chip) – With Karen Humphries at the helm, Chip brought home Junior in Show, a testament to his development and potential.
Orical Atlantis Treasures (Saint) – Skillfully handled by Raewyn Mason, Saint placed 2nd in Limit Dog in a class of three.
Ch Orical Rise & Grind (Tahvo) – Also guided by Raewyn Mason, Tahvo held his own in Intermediate Dog class, placing 3rd out of 4.
Under the discerning eye of judge Colette Muldoon from Ireland, every dog in the ring was a testament to the dedication and passion of Finnish Lapphund breeders and handlers across the board.
This year’s show was unique for Orical, as it marked the first time we were not represented by any of our iconic black and tan Lappies. While it was a slight departure from the usual, it’s a reflection of our kennel’s diversity and the remarkable qualities of all our dogs, regardless of colour or coat pattern.
I want to take a moment to recognise the hard work and dedication of our incredible handlers—Melissa, Raewyn, and Karen—who poured their time, energy, and hearts
into preparing their Lappies for this event. Your commitment makes all the difference, and I’m so grateful to have you as part of Team Orical!
Events like these remind us why we do what we do. They’re not just about ribbons or titles—they’re about celebrating the bond between handler and dog, showcasing the beauty and versatility of Finnish Lapphunds, and connecting with a community that shares our passion for this extraordinary breed.
